The Pantanal Although the dense impenetrable Amazon forest gets all the fame and glory, the Pantanal, the largest floodplain in the world (90,000 square miles), is the most interesting region to observe the rich variety of fauna and flora that fillyour eyes. The wetland areas are visible as far as the eye can see, and there is nowhere for the animals to hide. They live here, before your very eyes, in this vast swamp. The distances are so great in this place, and the land transport is so rare that we have to get around by plane or motor boat. A 4×4 can only be used in the dry season.
